Unprecedented demands for power, population growth, and a thriving economy have left Utah in an unsustainable energy predicament. The Utah Coalition for Energy Development was created by large commercial and industrial loads, independent power producers, and power services companies to enact bold and practical regulatory changes to Utah’s existing power market.

The legislative initiatives we are advocating for would unlock development opportunities of both grid-stabilizing and cost-saving power projects, and large commercial and industrial campuses that would bring high-paying and high-skilled jobs to our economy.

Utah is uniquely positioned given our existing infrastructure and abundant natural resources to be a leader in the United States in energy development, especially in innovative technologies like Small Modular Reactors and Geothermal coupled with clean and efficient natural gas.

Existing Regulator frameworks have the state on the outside looking in on the once-in-a-generation capex cycle in AI datacenter development and other critical industrial development, it’s time we unlock our potential and grow into the mature power market and economy we know we should be.
